Broken Castle
And thus the playground kingdom returns to undreamt sand,
so easily crushed underfoot. Each grain a piece of the rock,
but forming them united for common purpose does not equal
awe-inspiring monolith standing mute with the majesty of the
age. Rather, it is a simulacrum at best, a shadow of a shade,
torn asunder and rent by ocean's deep relentless waves, or by
callous children running by. Sand Castles were ever the most
impermanent of dynasties, their architects were ever the silliest
dreamers, and perhaps such origins gave the Castle a certain
nobility, or perhaps it simply means too much time in the Sun.
